Biofuels and other renewable energy resources increase the diversity of supply in the U.S. Marathon Petroleum Company LP (MPC) is investing in the manufacturing, blending and distributing of biofuels; a growing component in the U.S. transportation fuel mix.
For more than 20 years, MPC has blended ethanol into gasoline. We have the capacity to blend E-10 across our entire gasoline distribution network. In 2015, ethanol volumes sold in blended gasoline by MPC were 85 thousand barrels per day.
MPC has also invested in the manufacture of ethanol through interest in ethanol production facilities in Albion, Mich., Clymers, Ind., and Greenville, Ohio. These plants have a combined ethanol production capacity of 275 million gallons per year and are managed by a co-owner.
MPC sells biodiesel-blended diesel fuel in 16 states. We own a biodiesel facility in Cincinnati, Ohio, that produces biodiesel, glycerin and other byproducts. The capacity of the plant is approximately 60 million gallons per year.
